By the Pac-12 Conference
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week of February 11-17. Washington’s Kristi Kingma was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week, while Oregon’s Jillian Alleyne was tabbed the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
In Washington’s only game of the weekend, senior Kristi Kingma (Mill Creek, Wash.) shot lights out from beyond the arc, breaking the Pac-12 single-game record with 11 three-pointers in the Huskies’ 97-71 victory over Oregon. She finished the game just one trey shy of the NCAA record for threes in a game (12) and paced a UW squad that set the Conference team single-game record for three-pointers (18). Kingma shot 12-19 from the floor and 11-18 from downtown, while scoring a career-high 35 points and grabbing six rebounds. She added two steals and two assists and committed no turnovers on the evening.
A forward, Jillian Alleyne (Fontana, Calif.) averaged team highs in points (17.5) and rebounds (13.0), while shooting 59.3 percent from the field over the weekend to help Oregon to a home split against the Washington schools. On Friday, she paced the Ducks with team highs of 20 points and nine rebounds in a loss to Washington. It was her fourth 20-point scoring effort of the season. She shot 9-of-13 from the field while contributing a steal and a blocked shot in a team-high 32 minutes of action. On Sunday, Alleyne recorded her ninth double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing a game-high 17 rebounds in Oregon’s 65-60 win over Washington State.
It is Kingma’s first weekly honor this season and the second of her career. It is also Washington’s 31st all-time weekly recognition. Alleyne earned the weekly freshman accolade for the third time.
The Huskies hit the road for three games this week, kicking off the action on Monday at Oregon State. They travel to face Utah and Colorado on Friday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 24, respectively. Oregon resumes action on Friday with road tilt against No. 6 California. On Sunday, the Ducks take on No. 4 Stanford at Maples Pavilion.
