WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference office announced OREGON STATE senior forward Emery Welshman as the Pac-12 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 16-23.
Welshman, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, led Oregon State to two wins in the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Classic over the weekend. He achieved the Beavers’ first hat trick in four years in the team’s 6-1 win over UW-Green Bay en route to a seven point night. He ended the game with seven points, adding an assist and tallying the game-winning goal. On Sunday, in the 1-0 win over UC Irvine, Welshman scored the golden goal in the 102nd minute of double overtime.
Welshman has also been named TopDrawerSoccer.com National Player of the Week, and named to TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News national teams of the week.
This is Welshman’s second-career weekly honor, as he was named player of the week for the week of Oct. 4 last season. This is OSU’s first weekly honor this season and 17th all-time player of the week.
The Beavers will be featured on the Pac-12 Networks this weekend on Sunday, Sept. 30, when they open Pac-12 play at Washington at 4 p.m. The game is OSU’s Pac-12 Networks debut, the first of seven appearances on the Networks. Pac-12 men’s soccer will be broadcasted an unprecedented 28 live contests on the Networks this season.
