WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – ARIZONA senior Ben Grado and USC senior Victoria Ishimatsu have been named Pac-12 Divers of the Month for February, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Grado, became the first diver to sweep all three events at the Pac-12 Championships since Arizona State’s Micky Benedetti in 2008. The Diver of the Meet, he was also the first Wildcat to capture a Conference title since his coach Omar Ojeda won six events from 2001 to 2002. Grado scored 405.20 on the 1-meter, 421.60 on the 3-meter and 387.50 on the platform.
Ishimatsu claimed both springboard events at the Pac-12 Championships for the third year in a row. She also made history with her win on the 3-meter (386.80 points), becoming the first women’s diver to win the same event four years in a row. Ishimatsu won the 1-meter with a score of 337.05 in the final. Ishimatsu, who finished her Pac-12 career with seven Conference titles, was voted Diver of the Meet for the third straight year.
This is the third Diver of the Month honor for Grado and the fourth all-time for Arizona. For Ishimatsu, it is her seventh monthly honor and USC’s 11th, both the most in Conference history.
