Carlsen, Rittenhouse Named Captains
Oct. 10, 2000
Carlsen, a right-handed pitcher from Poulsbo, Wash. (Central Kitsap High), will enter his senior season as the second-winningest pitcher in Washington history. With 22 career victories, he trails all-time leader Jeff Heaverlo by only five. Over his three seasons, Carlsen has compiled an impressive 22-7 won-lost record.
Rittenhouse (Bellevue, Wash./Newport High) has been a starter for the Huskies in all three of his seasons, primarily at second base and as the leadoff hitter. A career .290 hitter, he ranks ninth in UW history with 136 career runs scored and 10th with 94 bases on balls.
The Huskies closed out the fall practice season on Saturday. Spring practice will begin in January and the 2001 season will open in February when the Huskies take part in a tournament in Phoenix, Ariz.
