The Pac-10 has started its inaugural season by posting an 11-8 (.579) record in early season tournaments...There are more tournaments this week before Conference play begins Oct. 1, when OREGON STATE plays at WASHINGTON, marking the first men's soccer game in Pac-10 history...UCLA is the consensus No. 1 team this week, while STANFORD is ranked seventh (Soccer America) and 21st (NSCAA).

Pac-10 Player of the Week

UCLA senior forward McKinley Tennyson Jr. has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 12-18.

Tennyson Jr., from Indianapolis, Ind., recorded his second consecutive hat trick Sept. 17 against San Francisco, scoring all three goals in UCLA's 3-0 win. He became the first player in Bruin history to score hat tricks in consecutive games, and tied school records for career hat tricks and single-season hat tricks with two each.

Tennyson Jr. leads the No. 1-ranked Bruins (4-0-0) with seven goals in just three games this season, giving him a per-game average of 2.33. The Hermann Trophy nominee now holds a career total of 32 goals and 82 points.

This is the second weekly honor for Tennyson Jr. and UCLA's third Player of the Week honor all-time.

CALIFORNIA: The Golden Bears host San Francisco Sept. 21 and travel to Santa Clara Sept. 23. Both games are part of the Santa Clara Invitational. Cal split over the weekend, falling 1-0 to Cal State Northridge and defeating UC Santa Barbara 3-1. Junior Chris Roner tallied seven shots on the weekend, scoring two goals against the Gauchos. His first goal against UCSB was Cal's first score in nearly four matches. Roner paces the squad in points (6) and goals (3) and is second on the team with nine shots.

OREGON STATE: The Beavers have three matches on tap this week, against Portland (No. 3 Soccer America/No. 10 NSCAA), UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Northridge. Oregon State is looking to bounce back from a pair of losses last week, 1-0 to Santa Clara and 2-1 to UC Irvine.

STANFORD: Stanford travels across town for a Sept. 22 meeting with St. Mary's. The Cardinal collected a pair of wins vs. Ivy League opponents on the weekend, defeating Harvard 2-0 and Dartmouth 6-0 to win the Kappa/Hypertherm Dartmouth Men's Soccer Classic. Senior MF Scott Leber was named offensive MVP. Leber assisted on Luke Rust's game-winner against Harvard, then notched two goals against Dartmouth. He currently paces the team with six goals.

UCLA: The top-ranked Bruins travel to UC Irvine on Sept. 21 and host UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 24. UCLA downed San Francisco 3-0 last week, as senior F McKinley Tennyson Jr.recorded his second consecutive hat trick in the shutout victory.He became the first player in Bruin history to score hat tricks in consecutive games. Tennyson is currently tied for second in the UCLA record book with seven career-multiple-goal games.

WASHINGTON: The Huskies host the Nike Husky Classic this week, which pits them against Rhode Island and Cal State Fullerton (No. 6 NSCAA/No. 9 Soccer America). Washington went 1-1 in its home opening weekend last week, defeating UC Irvine 2-1 and falling to Santa Clara 2-0. Greg Foisie and Bryan Ritchie scored UW's goals against the Anteaters.
