This Week . . .The No. 7 UCLA women's soccer team will host a pair of Pac-10 matches with the Oregon schools this weekend at both Spaulding Field and Drake Stadium. This Friday, UCLA will host Oregon State at Spaulding Field beginning at 8:00 p.m. The Bruins own a 4-1-0 all-time series advantage over the Beavers, winning 2-0 in Corvallis last season. On Sunday, UCLA will host Oregon at Drake Stadium beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Bruins are 2-1-0 all time against the Ducks. Oregon won the last meeting between the two schools, a 2-1 victory last season in Eugene.
Bruins in the National Rankings . . .Following a 1-1 tie with No. 21 USC last weekend at the Coliseum, UCLA fell two spots to No. 7 in the latest NSCAA national rankings released Monday. Despite the tie, UCLA stayed at No. 5 in the Soccer America, Soccer Times and Soccer Buzz polls. In addition, UCLA is still ranked No. 1 in the West Region poll issued by the NSCAA.
Bruins No. 1 in the Pac-10 Statistical Rankings . . . Defensively, UCLA ranks No. 1 in the Pac-10 in goals allowed per game with an 0.36 average. The Bruins have given up just four goals in 11 games this season. UCLA has been equally as impressive on offense, ranking No. 1 in the Pac-10 in goals per game, averaging more than three per contest (3.27). The Bruins have scored 36 goals this season.
Home Field Advantage . . .How good is UCLA at home? Well, the Bruins haven't lost a home contest in nearly two years and currently own a nine-game home winning streak. UCLA posted an impressive 7-0-1 home record last season and have won both of its home games this season. The Bruins' last home loss was an NCAA Second Round defeat at the hands of BYU back on Nov. 14, 1998. UCLA holds an all-time home record of 48-13-5.
Swanson, Milburn Lead UCLA Attack . . .UCLA freshman forward Sarah-Gayle Swanson leads the Bruins in scoring with 19 points (8g, 3a). In addition, she already has four game-winning goals this season. Senior Tracey Milburn, a 1999 first-team All-Pac-10 selection, is close behind Swanson with 17 points (8g, 1a).
