Cougar Soccer Wins 4-0 At Arizona

TUSCON, Ariz. - The Cougar soccer team picked up their first Pacific-10 Conference win tonight at Arizona, a 4-0 defeat of the Wildcats. WSU has won five of its seven games on the road and is now 9-4-0 overall, 1-2-0 in the Pac-10.
Senior forward Deka DeWitt (Auburn, Wash.) picked up a hat trick for the Cougars, scoring the game-winner in the 12th minute of play. She came back in the second half and scored two more within five minutes of each other, first finishing a cross in the center of the box and then putting a five yard shot into the right corner of the net.
DeWitt, the Cougars leading scorer with 11 goals and two assists, is the only senior and a co-captain of the team. The hat trick was the first of DeWitt's collegiate career.
Sophomore Katrina Stroh (Federal Way, Wash.) picked up the Cougars second goal to make it 2-0 at the half. Stroh finished a cross from seven yards out. Stroh also got in on the action in the Cougars' final goal of the night with an assist to DeWitt.
Junior Liz Duncan (Richland, Wash.) crossed in two assists tonight, one to Stroh and one to DeWitt. She now leads WSU with seven assists on the season.
Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Jorgensen (North Bend, Wash.) picked up her second shutout of the season while breaking the school record for career minutes played. She has posted 4,572 minutes in goal, which tops Natalie McDowell's (1990-93) previous record by eight minutes.
The Cougars wrap up their trip with Arizona State, when they take on the Sun Devils Sunday at 2 p.m. PT.
