Men's Golf Leads Fresno Lexus Classic After Day One

FRESNO, Calif. - The Stanford men's golf team shot a ten-under par 566 (281-285) and sits in first place after 36 holes at the Fresno Lexus Classic hosted by Fresno State at the Fort Washington Golf Course. The Cardinal enters tomorrow's final round with a six-stroke lead over both San Diego State and Toledo.
Individually, four Stanford golfers are among the top ten, with none of the quartet more than six strokes behind. Junior Philip Rowe (Cornwall, UK) followed his opening round 69 with a one-under 71 and sits in third place with a two-round total of 140 (-4), just two strokes off the pace. Sophomore Jim Seki (Honolulu, HI), who also shot a 69 in the first round, carded a 72 for the second 18 holes and sits in a tie for fourth at 141 (-3).
Senior Jimmy Lee (Coral Springs, FL) posted identical rounds of 71 and is in seventh place with a two-under 142. Another senior, Eric Dahlberg (Fort Worth, TX), is tied for a ninth place with a two-round total of 144 (even).
Stanford's Alex Aragon (San Diego, CA) followed a 78 opening round with a one-under 71 in the second for a total of 149 (+5), while senior Rudy Barreto (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) finished the day at 159.
The two-day, 17-team tournament concludes Saturday with tee times scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
