No. 18 Soccer Falls To No. 6 Washington, 1-0

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The 18th-ranked Arizona State women's soccer team (11-2, 2-1 Pac-10) fought a tough battle for 90 minutes against sixth-ranked Washington (12-1, 3-0 Pac-10), but a lone goal scored in the 29th minute sealed the win for the Huskies.

The goal was scored by Caroline Putz, an unassisted shot from 10 yards out on he right side of the box. After a defensive mix up, Putz took the ball and drilled the shot pass the diving ASU goalkeeper into the right corner of the net.

This is the first time Arizona State has been shutout this year and the first time in the past 20 games, dating back to last season.

Despite ASU's advantage on corner kicks, 8-4, over the Huskies, the rest of the team statistics were virtually even, Washington tallied 10 shots to ASU's nine.

ASU goalkeeper Erin Reinke recorded six saves, three in each half, while UW's Hope Solo posted four saves - all coming in the second half.

Up next, Arizona State will host Washington State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
