UW's Hanlin Falls in First Round of All-American Championships

ATLANTA - Washington sophomore Matt Hanlin suffered a straight-set defeat against No. 15 seed Adam Carey on Thursday in the first round of the ITA All-American Championships at the Lincoln Tennis Center at Stone Mountain.
A native of Birmingham, England, Hanlin was defeated 6-2, 6-3 by Tennessee's Adam Carey. Hanlin is ranked 50th in the Wingspan.Com collegiate singles preseason rankings while Carey is No. 20.
During tournament pre-qualifying earlier in the week, Washington senior Jeremy Berman (Kirkland, Wash./Newport HS) lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to Joel Spicher in the round of 32. Berman advanced to the second round of pre-qualifying by rallying to a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 first-round victory over Tom Dalby.
The Husky men's tennis team next competes at the ITA Regional Championships that run from Oct. 28-31 in Berkeley, Calif.
