Fruttero Knocks Off No. 1 Seed, Advances to Semifinals

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA - ITA All-American Championships

Sophomore John Paul Fruttero advanced today to the semifinals of the championships by notching two solid victories over his opponents. The first victim was Duke's Andres Pedroso who fell to Fruttero 6-1, 6-4 in the third round of the tournament.

In the quarterfinals, Fruttero went up against the No. 1 seeded Brian Vahaly of Virginia. Vahaly was no match for Fruttero as the Bear knocked off the No. 1 seed in two sets 6-3, 6-3. Fruttero will play Genius Chidzikwe of SMU tomorrow in the semifinals and has a good chance of advancing to the finals.

Genius Chidzikwe defeated Bo Hodge of Georgia in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-2.
