Women's Tennis Players Fall At Riviera

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State's two top women's tennis players failed to move out of the first round of the Riviera Women's Tennis All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, California today.

In the morning match, Arizona State's Karin Palme, who is ranked 12th in the country, was defeated by the tournament's top-seeded player Aarthi Venkatesan, 6-2, 6-4. Venkatesan, who plays for the University of Georgia, is also the second ranked player in the country.

In the afternoon match, Arizona State's top singles player Adria Engel was upset by Ohio State's Kristy Dascoli in three sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3. Engel is ranked sixth in the nation, while Dascoli checks in at No. 33.
