Women's Golf In Tie For Sixth

STANFORD, Calif. -- Led by junior Lisa Meredith's 1-under 71, Arizona State's 15th-ranked women's golf team finished Friday's first round in a two-way tie for sixth-place in the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course Friday.

Meredith (Tumwater, Wash.), who is now in a four-way tie for fourth-place individually, went out in 37 and returned in 34 to record her 71. Posting a 74, freshman Jimin Kang sits in a tie for 20th after consecutive nine's of 37.

With two rounds remaining, the Sun Devils are 11-over par as a team, tied with Pepperdine at 299 total strokes. Arizona, the nation's No. 1 team, leads the tournament with an 11-under 277.

Second round action of the Stanford Intercollegiate will tee off Saturday at 8 a.m.
