Men's Soccer Player of the Week (10/24/00)

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Stanford midfielder Sean Sylvis has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for October 17-23, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Sylvis, a senior Redmond, Wash., helped Stanford garner victories over Pac-10 foes Oregon State and No. 13 Washington with two game-winning goals off the bench.
In the 2-1 win over OSU, Sylvis snapped a 1-1 tie with a header at the 86:12 mark to knock off the Beavers. Following up that performance, Sylvis drilled a goal from 12 yards out to give the Cardinal a 1-0 lead against Washington. Stanford went on to win the game 2-0 and in the process, tied the Huskies for the top spot in the Conference. By scoring those two goals, Sylvis set a career high with four scores in 2000.
This is the first weekly honor for Sylvis and Stanford's first Player of the Week honor all-time.
