Men's Tennis Hosts Thunderbirds Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State men's tennis program will host the sixth annual Thunderbirds Collegiate Tennis Invitational, Friday, October 27 through Sunday, October 29 at Robson Player Facility at the Whiteman Tennis Center. Admission is free to the public.

The tournament will showcase some of the most competitive and highly ranked men's singles and doubles players from around the country. The 11 participating schools include: Arizona State, Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, Cal Poly, Clemson, Florida Gulf Coast, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi State and San Diego.

The format will feature a 32-player single elimination draw with consolation play for first-round losers. Doubles play will also be featured in the three-day tournament. The singles main draw will start at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, while the doubles will begin at 4:00 p.m. The singles and doubles final are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

The tournament is sponsored by the Phoenix Thunderbirds, who promote the city of Phoenix, by sponsoring athletic events and providing financial assistance to amateur athletes and youth oriented charities.

Additionally, the Thunderbirds sponsor the ASU/Thunderbird Collegiate Golf tournament held every year at the Karsten Golf Course on the campus of Arizona State.
