UW Men's Golf Team In Second Place at The Nelson

STANFORD, CA - The Washington men's golf team is tied for second place after the first 18 holes of play at the Nelson Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course. The Huskies shot an even par 284 to finish the round in a tie with North Carolina State. The Huskies are four shots behind Duke, which leads the 19-team field with a four-under score of 280.
Washington junior Gordy Scutt and freshman Corey Prugh both shot a one-under 70 to lead the Huskies. They are tied for 7th place and stand just two strokes behind Duke's Leif Olson, who leads the event with a score of 68. Conner Robbins, one of three Husky freshmen competing in the tournament, carded an even-par 71 to finish the day tied for 16th. Fellow freshman Brock Mackenzie is just two shots back of Robbins with a two-over 73.
The second round will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and Sunday's final round will begin at 8 a.m.
