Women's Crew Wins Head Of The American Regatta

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's crew team began its 2000-01 season in fine fashion this afternoon, as the Cardinal 'A' boat won the 5,000-meter Head of the American regatta with a time of 18:08. Stanford's 'B' boat finished in ninth place with a time of 20:09. Hosted by Sacramento State, the race was held at Lake Natoma in Folsom, Calif.
Stanford held off the host Hornets to capture the title, as Sac State finished second with a time of 18:13. Pacific-10 Conference rival California clocked in at 18:15 to finish third.
The Cardinal women race again on Sunday, October 29, when it competes in the Head of the Estuary regatta in Oakland, Calif.
