Rettenmaier Advances To Southern California Intercollegiate Finals

Los Angeles, CA - UCLA sophomore Travis Rettenmaier advanced to the final round of the Southern California Intercollegiate Tournament with a 6-1, 6-2 semifinal victory Saturday over Pepperdine's Chase Exon.
Rettenmaier, who has yet to drop a set in this tournament, will face USC's seventh-seeded Andrew Park in the finals Monday, Oct. 30 at 1:00 pm. Park advanced to the finals with a 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 win over San Diego's Juan Cerda.
In the first day of doubles action, three of four Bruin teams advanced to the quarterfinals. Derrick Nguyen-Chris Sands upset fourth-seeded Daniel Langre-Andrew Park of USC, 9-7. Lassi Ketola-Tobias Clemens defeated Pepperdine's Steve Racioppi-Gerald Wiring, 8-6, and Rettenmaier and Erfan Djahangiri breezed with an 8-2 win over Azusa Pacific's Aaron Coyle-Park Sin. However, second-seeded Jean-Noel Grinda and Jean-Julien Rojer were upset by Pepperdine's Exon-Stefan Suter, 9-8.
In quarterfinal action, Ketola-Clemens knocked off their teammates Nguyen-Sands, 8-6, while Rettenmaier-Djahangiri lost to Pepperdine's Alastair Garland-Sebastien Graeff, 8-6. Ketola-Clemens then lost in the semifinals to Exon-Suter, 6-3, 6-3.
