Husky Soccer Team Invites Fans to Join Them for Selection Sunday
Oct. 31, 2000
SEATTLE - The Pacific-10 Conference champion Washington women's soccer team is inviting supporters to join them on Sunday, Nov. 5 as they watch the NCAA Tournament Selection Show live at the All-American Sports Bar & Grill.
Coach Lesle Gallimore and her third-ranked Huskies earned an automatic berth into the 48-team NCAA Tournament bracket. They will congregate Sunday to view the live satellite broadcast that announces Washington's seeding and the complete pairings for the tournament.
Family, friends and supporters are invited to join the team beginning at 6 p.m. at the All-American Sports Bar & Grill which is located directly west of the UW campus, across the street from the University Bookstore. The address is: 4333 University Way N.E. The phone number is: (206) 545-7771. The Selection Show starts at 7 p.m.
If you plan to attend, please e-mail Coach Gallimore (firstname.lastname@example.org) so she can provide an estimate of the crowd to the restaurant manager.
Individuals unable to join the team can access the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on satellite through Home Team Sports (DirecTV channel 629 or Dish Network channel 424) or Empire Sports (DirecTV channel 626 or Dish Network channel 432). The direct satellite feed is also available (C Band, Telstar 5, Transponder 24, Downlink Frequency 418 MHz).
Washington, which will compete in its fifth NCAA Tournament in the last seven years, is likely to be one of 16 teams that receive a first-round bye. If the Huskies do not receive a bye and are chosen to host a first-round game, they would play on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at Husky Soccer Field. It is more likely that Washington will receive a bye and host a second-round game on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Husky Soccer Field.
The Huskies (17-1, 8-0 in Pac-10) conclude their regular-season schedule on Friday at Washington State.
