Bruins Lead Hawaii Tournament by 13 Shots

The UCLA women's golf team, aiming to defend its title in the Rainbow Wahine Fall Golf Classic, leads the tournament by 13 shots entering Wednesday's final round at the Kapolei Golf Course on the island of Oahu.

The Bruins fired rounds of 298 and 299 for a total of 597, and lead second place New Mexico, which has a 36-hole total of 610. Washington is third at 612, followed by Texas A&M at 613 and fifth place San Francisco at 615.

Individually, UCLA sophomore Saki Uechi leads the field after posting rounds of 73-74--147, three-over par. Teammate Gina Umeck is tied for second with two players at 149 after recording rounds of 75-74. Senior Laura Moffat is tied for fifth at 150 (74-76) and freshman Johanna Andersson is 10th at 151 (76-75). Junior Alicia Um is tied for 43rd at 159.

The Bruins won this tournament in 1999 and Moffat won individual medalist honors after a two-hole playoff.
