Media Picks Stanford Women's Basketball Squad To Win Pac-10 Title

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - With four returning starters from last year'sNCAA Tournament team, the STANFORD Cardinal has been tabbed as the team to beat in the 2000-01Pac-10 Conference season, according to a poll of media members who cover Pac-10 women'sbasketball. The Cardinal tied with ARIZONA for second place in the Conference with a 13-5 league record last season, while OREGON captured its second straight Pac-10 title The Cardinal was last tabbed by the media as the Conference preseason favorite in 1997-98.

Three returning All-Pac-10 players were named to the inaugural Preseason All-Conference Team �Megan Franza of Washington, Oregon State's Felicia Ragland and Angelina Wolvert of OregonStanford guard Jamie Carey, the 2000 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, and Stanford senior center CarolynMoos, a Pac-10 honorable mention selection last year, were also named to the team.
