STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior midfielder Scott Leber, earlier named the Pacific-10 Conference men's soccer player of the week, has been selected to the Soccer America Team of the Wek for October 23-29.
Leber, from Tucson, Ariz., tallied his third multi-goal game of the year in Stanford's 3-0 road win at California on Sunday. He notched his second game-winner of the season when he broke a scoreless tie with a 12-yard strike at 11:55. Just 2:57 into the second half, Leber gave the Cardinal a 2-0 lead when he headed in a corner kick.
Leber now has a team-best and career-high 11 goals on the season, ranking him second in the Conference in total goals. He also ranks in the top five in the Conference in shots (second, 42), points (second, 26), shots per game (second, 2.62), points per game (third, 1.62) and goals per game (third, 1.62).
This is the first time Leber has been named to the Soccer America Team of the Week and the fifth time a Stanford player has been honored in 2000, following Lee Morrison (Sept. 11-17), Roger Levesque (Oct. 9-15), Luke Rust (Sept. 25-Oct. 1) and Sean Sylvis (Oct. 17-23).
Stanford (14-1-1), ranked No. 1 in this week's Soccer America poll, faces No. 4 Indiana (13-3-0) on Saturday, November 4 as part of the Cal adidas-Legacy Classic. Kickoff from Berkeley is set for 12:00 p.m.
