Nov. 3, 2000

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's soccer team, ranked No. 1 in the latest Soccer America poll, faces No. 4 Indiana on Saturday at noon as part of the Cal adidas-Legacy Classic. While the Hoosiers are No. 4 according to Soccer America, they are the top-ranked team in the College Soccer Online Media Poll, thus setting up a match between two No. 1's.

The Cardinal enter the game at 14-1-1 overall and in first place in the Pac-10 at 5-1-0. Stanford, which has won six in a row, boasts the nation's fifth-best offense (3.25 goals per game) and its stingiest defense (0.24 GAA). Indiana, the two-time defending National Champions, has won 10 straight and 13 of 14 en route to capturing the regular season Big Ten title.

Stanford and Indiana last met in the 1998 National Championship match, won by the Hoosiers 3-1.

The match will be played at Edwards Stadium on the campus of the University of California.
