Oregon Volleyball Ends Trip In The Desert With A Loss To No. 4 Arizona

The University of Oregon volleyball team fell 15-7, 15-2,15-2 to No.4 Arizona in front of 851 fans atthe McKale Center Friday. Oregon is 9-14 overall, 1-13 Pac-10 and the Wildcats improve to20-2, 13-1.
Oregon junior Monique Tobbagi led Oregon with seven kills and hit .263. Senior Halie Mazzaadded six kills, six digs and one block. The Wildcats outkilled Oregon 27-17 and outblockedit 12-3. As a team, Oregon hit -.162 to Arizona's .339.
'We knew this was going to be a difficult match,' head coach Carl Ferreira said. 'They are afinal four team, but you always have a chance to win every match.'
Arizona was led by Marisa DaLee, who had seven kills and committed zero errors to post an .875overall attack percentage.
In Game 1, Oregon got on the board first, but the Wildcats used a 12-0 to break the game open.Oregon junior Monique Tobbagi's ace late in the game started a 6-0 run by the Ducks that narrowedthe gap, 12-7. That was as close as Oregon got in the game with Arizona closing the door withthree straight points.
Arizona carried momentum into Game 2, taking a 10-0 lead behind strong serving by setter Dana Burkholderbefore Oregon got on the board with a kill by setter Sydney Chute. Chute and senior Halie Mazza tallied a block on the next playto make the score 11-2, but Arizona finished the game with a 4-0 run to win, 15-2.
Arizona outside hitter Jill Talbot served the Wildcats to an 8-0 lead in Game 3 and Oregonwas unable to establish a rally late in the game. A block by Tobbagi and Mazza got Oregon onthe board, but Arizona outscored Oregon 6-1 down the stretch to win.
