Berkeley, Calif. - The California men's soccer team was defeated by No. 1 San Jose State today, 3-2, as part of the Cal adidas-Legacy Classic. In the first match, No. 5 Stanford defeated No. 3 Indiana, 1-0, in single overtime.
San Jose State scored the first goal on a breakaway by Isaias Bardales in the 20th minute. Jorge Martinez assisted on the score.

'Our guys gave a great effort versus the No. 1 team in the country today,' said head coach Kevin Grimes. 'Being 1-1 at the half, we thought that we had a chance to win. We had our two best chances early in the second half and the keeper made great saves which was the difference in the match.'
In the first match, Stanford's Scott Leber scored the game winner with 1:43 left in the first overtime. Todd Dunivant assisted on the lone goal.
