Men's Hoops Opens At No. 23 In AP Poll

LOS ANGELES - The USC men's basketball team, after debuting in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Preseason Poll Top 25 at No. 24 last week, has opened at No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 Preseason Poll on Monday (Nov. 6).

The pair of Top 25 rankings mark the first time the Trojans have been ranked in the preseason in either poll since starting the 1978-79 season ranked No. 12 in the AP poll.

As in the coaches' poll, Arizona is ranked No. 1. Other Pac-10 teams ranked in the AP poll include No. 4 Stanford and No. 17 UCLA. Wooden Classic opponent Utah opened at No. 13 while possible Pearl Harbor Invitational match-up Iowa State is No. 25.
