ASU Women's Basketball to Host Fourth Annual Mid-Afternoon Madness Nov. 11
Nov. 7, 2000
TEMPE, Ariz. - Instead of participating in the traditional 'Midnight Madness' which kicks off the first official practice of the college basketball season, the Arizona State women's basketball team will play host to its fourth annual 'Mid-Afternoon Madness' Saturday, Nov. 11 at Wells Fargo Arena.
Admission is free, and the event will run from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Fans are invited to meet the team and get autographs from their favorite Sun Devils. There will be free food and T-shirts for the first 500 fans.
'Mid-Afternoon Madness is a lot of fun for our fans,' ASU head coach Charli Turner Thorne said. 'Because we are holding this event in the afternoon and not late at night, they won't miss a thing. Our fans are able to get an up-close look at the Sun Devil women's basketball team and meet and visit with our players.'
Fans are also encouraged to stay for Arizona State's second exhibition game of the season later that evening. The Sun Devils will take on Cassovia Bardejov, a team from Slovakia, at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Sun Devils open the exhibition season on Sunday, Nov. 5 in a contest with the Chinese National Team at 7 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena and begins the regular season Saturday, Nov. 18, taking on Texas-San Antonio at 7 p.m. ASU continues its home stand the next day with an afternoon contest with South Florida, starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.
