Nov. 7, 2000
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- California defender Robbie Aylesworth has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for October 31 - November 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Aylesworth, a freshman from Phoenix, Ariz., scored two goals over the weekend to help lead the surging Bears to a 1-1 record in the California adidas-Legacy Classic, a tournament that had three of the top five teams in the country competing (No. 1 SJSU, No. 3 Indiana, No. 5 Stanford).
Against No. 1 San Jose State, Aylesworth scored the first goal in a 3-2 loss, then went on to finish the weekend with the game-winner over No. 3 and two-time defending national champion Indiana, upsetting the Hoosiers 2-1.
Aylesworth, one of the young stars in Pac-10 men's soccer, now has three career goals with two going for game-winners.
This is the first weekly honor for Aylesworth and California's first Player of the Week honor all-time.
