Women's Tennis To Host ITA Regional Championships

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's tennis team is hosting the ITA Regional Championships this weekend at the Tabue Family Tennis Stadium. Competition for the 14-team tournament begins Thursday and last until Sunday.
Stanford sophomore Laura Granville, the No. 1-ranked player in the ITA rankings, is the tournament's top seed. Washington's Kristina Kraszewski is seeded second while Fresno State's Kim Niggemeyer is the fourth seed and teammate Liesl Fichtbauer is eighth. Stanford's Lauren Kalvaria (No. 4), Keiko Tokuda (No. 5), Gabriela Lastra (No. 6) and Lauren Barnikow (No. 7) round out the top eight seeds.
The singles finalists (2) and doubles champions (1) from the tournament earn spots in the 2001 Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, the third leg of the ITA Grand Slam, Feb. 1-4 at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas.
