Cal Routs EA Sports in Exhibition Game, 107-70

BERKELEY - With five players scoring in double figures, Cal wrapped up its exhibition schedule with a 107-70 rout of EA Sports Thursday at Haas Pavilion.
Senior forward Sean Lampley led the way with 23 points, while Joe Shipp and Brian Wethers added 13 points each, Solomon Hughes added 11 points and Donte Smith had 10. Hughes paced the Bears on the boards with 12 rebounds.
Cal opens the regular season Monday night when the Bears host Mississippi State at 9 p.m. in the first round of the Tivo Preseason NIT.
Against EA Sports, Cal jumped out to a 17-5 lead just 6:15 into the contest, with Shipp hitting a pair of three-pointers during the span. EA Sports closed to within five points at 19-14 before Cal got it back up to 10 points at 31-21.
In the second half, the Bears shot 65.7 percent from the field to outscore their opponents, 62-32, over the final 20 minutes. Gabriel Hughes put Cal over the 100-point mark with a dunk with 1:52 remaining.
Former Cal guard Raymond 'Circus' King paced EA Sports with 18 points, while ex-USC Trojan Jaha Wilson added 16 points. Former Cal guard Robbie Jones scored just one point, but added six assists.
Kuzminskas to have surgery
Cal freshman forward Saulius Kuzminskas will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday morning. He hurt the knee in last week's exhibition game against the LA Stars, and doctors determined this week that surgery was necessary. Kuzminskas is expected to miss 4-6 weeks of action.
