Three Football Student-Athletes Selected to Academic Team

Corvallis, Ore. - Three Oregon State University football student-athletes have been selected to the 2000 Verizon Academic All-District Team, it was announced Friday.

The three players on the 44-man academic roster from OSU are sophomores Dennis Weathersby, Kyle Rosselle, and Seth Trimmer. Trimmer is a first team selection, while Weathersby and Rosselle are second team honorees.

Weathersby is the starter at right cornerback. The Duarte, Cal., native has started 19 games for his career and boasts a 3.32 cumulative GPA in liberal studies.

Rosselle, a native of Pendleton, Ore., is a backup at left defensive end. He holds a 3.28 GPA in general agriculture. Trimmer, from Corvallis' Crescent Valley High School, is a backup at flanker and has a GPA of 3.30 in business administration.

Sports information directors from the states of Oregon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Washington, and the province of British Columbia selected the team. The 24 first team selections will be placed on the national ballot, which will be released Dec. 5.
