ASU Women's Tennis Unable to Advance to Singles Semifinals at ITA Regional

IRVINE, Calif. - Arizona State failed to advance any singles players to the semifinal round of the ITA Women's Tennis Regional Championships at UC Irvine Saturday, as Megan Yeats and Mhairi Brown were both defeated in quarterfinal action.

Yeats defeated Sun Devil teammate Cindy Sureephong in the third round 6-3, 6-4, but fell to the top seed, Sara Walker from UCLA, in the quarterfinal this afternoon. Brown was also victorious in the morning third round match, defeating Monika Horvath of Pepperdine 7-5, 6-2. Brown then lost to UNLV's Agnieszka Abram in the quarterfinal 4-6, 6-0, 7-6.

Faye DeVera, the fourth ASU singles player to advance as far as the third round, was unable to make it to the quarterfinals, losing also to Agnieszka in the morning match.

In doubles action, the Sun Devil teams of DeVera and Karin Palme and Brown and Celena McCoury both lost in the second round, falling to teams from Pepperdine and USC, respectively.
