Men's Tennis Wins Five at Final Day of Duck Classic

EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon men's tennis team won four singles and one doubles match on Sunday at the last day of the Duck Classic, held at the Student Tennis Center. Over the three days of play, the Ducks as a team recorded 18 wins, 14 in singles and four in doubles.
Senior David Becker and sophomore Jason Menke were involved in three of the Ducks wins, each player won a singles match, and the duo participated in the lone doubles win for Oregon. Becker defeated Portland's Ty Garrison, 6-2, 6-0. Menke held on to beat the Pilots' Matt Baer in a three-set battle, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Oregon's tandem of Becker and Menke finished the day in doubles defeating Portland's duo of Quang Nguyen and Christian Dumitru, 8-5.
Ducks' standout Oded Teig rebounded from a loss yesterday with a win over Peter Malacek of Portland, 6-2, 6-4. Also victorious was Duck freshman Buck Mink, who defeated the Pilots' Nick Tostenrude, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
Up next for Oregon men's tennis is the Ice Volleys in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 19-20.
