April Ross, a 6-1 freshman outside hitter for No. 3 USC, has been chosen the AVCA/Sports Imports Division I National Player of the Week and Pac-10 Player of the Week after leading the Women of Troy to victories over then-No. 3 Arizona and Arizona State. Ross opened the week by hitting at a .406 percentage with a 17-kill, four-block effort in a four-game win over Arizona State on Nov. 9. She contributed 20 kills, seven digs, three blocks and three service aces in a four-game victory over Arizona on Nov. 10. Ross attacked at a .425 percentage in the win over the Wildcats. She averaged 4.63 kills, 1.63 digs, 0.88 blocks and 0.38 aces per game for the week. Ross charted a .417 hitting percentage for the eight games with only seven errors. USC moved up three spots in the USA TODAY/AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll with the two victories.
