UCLA Cross-Country Men Place Seventh, Women Eighth at NCAA Regional Qualifying Meet

FRESNO, Ca. - Eric Peterson's UCLA men's and women's cross country teams placed seventh and eighth, respectively, Saturday at the NCAA Regional Qualifier held in Fresno and hosted by Fresno State University.
In the men's team race, No. 2 Stanford won with 58 points, followed by Arizona (second-place, 62), Cal-Poly SLO (third-place, 114), No. 10 Oregon (fourth-place, 122), fifth-place Arizona State (128), sixth-place University of Portland (150), seventh-place UCLA (167), eighth-place Washington (207), ninth-place UC-Santa Barbara (230) and 10th place California (259).
Held at Woodward Park in Fresno, the men's 10,000m was won by Stanford's Jonathan P.M. Riley, in a time of 30:40. UCLA's top finisher was junior Bryan Green, placing 10th in a time of 31:19. Green has placed in the top 10 of every UCLA men's meet this season.
UCLA's men scoring finishers were senior Paul Muite(14th, 31:16), freshman Jon Rankin (24th, 31:28), junior Justin Patananan (59th, 32:29), senior Scott Abbott (57th, 32:37), junior Andrew Wulf (72nd, 32:50) and senior Mason Moore (98th, 34:02).
In the women's standings, No. 2 Stanford won with 58 points, followed by No. 4 Arizona State (second-place, 88), No. 7 Arizona (third-place, 126), Oregon (fourth-place, 169), fifth-place Washington (170), sixth-place Cal Poly-SLO (167), seventh-place Washington State (188), eighth-place UCLA (199), ninth-place UC-Irvine (219) and 10th place University of Idaho (221).
The women's 6000m was won by Arizona State's Lisa Aguilera, in a time of 20:25. UCLA's top finisher was senior Christina Bowen, who placed 10th, in a time of 20:44.
UCLA's women scoring finishers were senior Katie Nuanes (29th, 21:14), sophomore Kelly Grimes (44th, 21:52), junior Bridie Hatch (68th, 22:29), sophomore Melissa McBain (69th, 22:29), junior Alynda Franco (86th, 22:45) and senior Gina Donnelly (106th, 23:04).
