Nov. 14, 2000
The University of Oregon men's basketball team lost an exhibition game to Athletes in Action, 84-80 Tuesday at McArthur Court. Athletes in Action improves to 7-9 on their tour of colleges across America.
Leading the Ducks with 23 points was senior Bryan Bracey, while freshman Luke Ridnour was perfect from the stripe (seven for seven), dropping a total of 22 points. Senior Julius Hicks led the team in rebounds, pulling down six, while both Chris Christoffersen and Frederick Jones were close behind with five. Jones also hit double digits (11), shooting 75% from the free-throw line.
'Certainly, this game was a better indicator as to where we are as a team,' said Oregon head coach Ernie Kent. 'I was a little concerned about the mental things, the little things you have to do in the game, and I still am. Now we've got some things to go back to the drawing board with.'
David Daniels' final two free-throws, which led to Athletes in Action's win, was icing on his 19 points and four rebounds. Ronnie Grandison raked in 18 points and four rebounds, while Jack Harman scored 14 points and four rebounds. Leading Athletes in Action in rebounds was Ryan Hoover with six.
The Ducks open the regular season Friday at 7 p.m. at Mac Court versus Mississippi Valley State.
