Oregon State Inks Men's Golfer

Nov. 16, 2000

CORVALLIS, Ore. - - Brian Kelley has signed a letter of intent to attend Oregon State and compete on the men's golf team, head coach Mike Ketcham announced on Thursday.

Kelley, who attends University City High School in San Diego, won the C.I.F individual championship during his junior year with a 67-68--135. His score broke current PGA Tour member Phil Mickelson's record for that tournament.

'Brian will certainly be an asset to the Oregon State University golf program,' Ketcham said. 'He possesses tremendous skills and I look for him to have a bright future at Oregon State University.'

Kelley placed second in the Boys Junior America's Cup with a score of 67-76-76--219 at the Sahalee Country Club in Washington over the summer of 2000. Kelley has eight tournament victories in his high school career.
