Stanford Wrestling Announces Signing Of Two Future Mat Stars

Nov. 17, 2000

Stanford, Calif. -- The Stanford wrestling program received two national letters of intent earlier this week to attend Stanford in the fall of 2001. The newcomers will be Nick Lukens (Lebanon, OH/Moeller HS) and Ryan Hagen (Sidney, MT/Sidney HS).

Lukens, a state champion, comes from a program that is currently ranked fifth nationally. Moeller high school is a well-respected top program in one of the nation's toughest wrestling states (Ohio). He is expected to wrestle at 197 pounds for Stanford next year, joining current sophomore Fred Luminoso and freshman Matt Twomey.

Hagen begins his senior campaign with two state championships to his name. He will likely wrestle at Stanford at 174 or 184 pounds.

Both Lukens and Hagen are expected to add another state title this season and both are considered in the top ten nationally in their respective weight classes.
