Women's Swimming And Diving Wins NU Invitational

LOS ANGELES -- The top-ranked UCLA swimming and diving team won the Northwestern Invitational after posting 1,146.50 points this evening. The invitational's host, Northwestern, finished second with 939.50, followed by South Carolina who scored 492. Ohio State placed fourth with 376 points.
The Bruins led after the second day of competition after scoring 735 points. UCLA won five individual events and three relays, the 200 Free, 200 Medley and the 400 medley. UCLA swept three events, the 50 Free, 100 Fly, and the one-meter diving event.
Sara Platzer won the 50 Free with a time of 23.54 followed by Erica Shugart (23.64) who finished second and Beth Goodwin (23.90) placed third. Goodwin took the 100 Fly title with a time of 55.57 while Brighid Dwyer (56.74) and Julia Voitovitsch (57.04) finished second and third, respectively. Regan Gosnell continued her sensational diving as she took the one-meter title with 240.85 points followed by Anne Baghramian (236.25) who placed second and Michelle Brown (234.75) finished third.
UCLA's Swimming team returns to action on Thursday Nov. 30th to participate in the Speedo Cup in Long Beach, CA
