Nov. 20, 2000
For the first time ever in Pac-10 play, a team other than STANFORD or UCLA claims the right to be called Pac-10 champion as ARIZONA and USC share the 2000 volleyball crown. The final week of the season wraps up with teams playing in various Thanksgiving tournaments. Some matches may have an impact on NCAA seedings. . . The Pac-10's non-conference record stands at an impressive 75-18 (.806). It's the second-best mark in non-league action for the Pac-10, ranking only behind the 1992 season's non-league record of 99-19 (.839). . . This week's USA Today/AVCA poll lists No. 3 USC, No. 4 Arizona, No. 11 UCLA and No. 20 Stanford, while the Volleyball Magazine poll includes No. 4 USC, No. 6 Arizona, No. 13 UCLA, No. 19 Stanford.

She hit .510 with 32 kills (4.57 kpg) and six errors on 51 attempts. Against Washington State, Ross hit .594 with 20 kills and just one error in 32 attempts, while adding seven blocks. ARIZONA - The Wildcats captured a share of the Pac-10 title with USC. It's the first Pac-10 volleyball title won by a team other than UCLA or Stanford. . . Arizona closes out the season on the road at the Community Banker's Classic, hosted by Pacific University. The Wildcats will face No. 10 Pacific and then will have the task of taking on No. 6 Colorado State or San Jose State. It's possible the Cats would finish the season playing five of it's last six matches against teams that were ranked in the top ten at match time. . . Senior outside hitter Allison Napier recorded a career-high 34 kills vs. Arizona State.
ARIZONA STATE - Senior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge has recorded double-digit kills in each of her 26 matches played this season, with 20 or more kills in 17 of those matches. . . Freshman setter Cheryl Anglin's 1,350 assists are the most in a single season by a Sun Devil since 1988 when Noelle Fidrich tallied 1,444 assists.
CALIFORNIA - Senior outside hitter Alicia Perry has a team-high 420 kills and 365 digs. Perry has led Cal in both kills and digs in 14 of the Bears 26 matches. She is currently fourth on the Cal all-time career kill list with 1320, third with 3671 kill attempts and eighth with 1103 digs. Perry needs 13 kills to move into third on the all-time kills list, while she needs nine digs to move into sixth on that career list. . . Junior Candace McNamee had her second triple double of the season with 11 kills, 41 assists and 14 digs vs. Oregon State.
OREGON -Sophomore setter Sydney Chute needs one more service to reach 40 for the season. She would be just the second Duck to record 40 or more aces in a season in the last 10 years.
OREGON STATE - Currently with 516 kills this year, junior outside hitter Gina Schmidt became only the third Oregon State player with 500 kills in a season. With 949 career kills and two matches remaining, she needs 27 kills to crack the top ten on the OSU career kills list. . . Senior setter Brandi Bonnarens needs just eight more assists to set a new OSU record for assists in a season. She has 1,501 so far this season, and needs just 25 more assists to reach 4000 for her career.
STANFORD - Senior setter Lindsay Kagawa has a shot at adding her name in the Cardinal record book. With 1,222 assists this season, she needs 87 assists to rank fifth on the Stanford single season list. She's fourth on the career list with 3,239 assists. . . Sophomore outside hitter Logan Tom has 250 kills in 13 matches played - just three kills shy of Tara Conrad (253) who leads the squad in kills in 28 matches played. Tom leads the team in kpg with 5.68 while hitting at a .350 clip. Her 18 service aces is second on the team (0.41 sapg) and she leads Stanford with 2.98 digs per game.

With its victory over Washington, UCLA posted its 28th 20-win season.
USC - USC clinched a share of the Pac-10 title for the first time in program history. The Trojans finish with a 16-2 conference record - the best since 1998 when USC finished second in the Pac-10. . . At worst, the Women of Troy would complete the 2000 season with four losses, marking the first time since 1980 that USC has finished with four or less losses. USC won it's third of four national titles in 1980. . . The Trojans have posted double figure block totals in six of its last eight matches. . .
