Oregon Volleyball Loses Close 3-2 Match To New Mexico State

The University of Oregon volleyball team fell 1-15, 15-4, 15-8, 8-15, 15-13 in front of 404 fans to New Mexico State in the first day of the New Mexico State Tournament in Las Cruces. Oregon is 10-18 overall, 2-16 Pac-10 with one match remaining in the season. New Mexico State is 14-17, 9-9.
Oregon was led by senior Halie Mazza, who had 15 kills, seven digs and seven blocks. Mazza committed just three errors in 32 attempts to post a .375 hitting percentage. Junior Monique Tobbagi had 13 kills, 17 digs and four blocks to post her seventh double-double of the season. Tobbagi also had minimal errors, hitting .333 for the match. Senior Amy Banducci added 12 kills and 11 digs.
Sophomore setter Sydney Chute had her second career triple-double (10 kills, 30 assists, 12 digs), which is also her second of this season. Fellow setter Julie Gerlach had eight kills, 13 assists and seven digs.
New Mexico State was led by Kristin Webster and Angela Lobendahn, who had 18 and 10 kills, respectively.
Oregon outkilled (62-50), outdug (70-55) and outblocked (15-8) the Aggies. The Ducks hit .210 for the night and held New Mexico State to a .113 hitting percentage.
The Ducks resume play tomorrow against UTEP at 12:00 p.m.
