Oregon Wrestling Defeats Stanford

Stanford (2-3 overall duals, 0-3 Pac-10) rounded out its Thanksgiving weekend trip by facing the Oregon Ducks at McArthur Court. Today's meet marked the home season opener for Oregon (2-0 overall duals, 2-0 Pac-10). The Cardinal faced another highly-regarded program which includes two wrestlers ranked in the top five in their respective weight classes according to Intermat.
Freshman Garrett Johnston (6-5 overall, 2-3 duals) recorded a win for Stanford with a decision over Oregon freshman Luke Larwin in the 174-pound division. Johnston edged Larwin 7-4 in the contest, bringing the meet score to 19-3.
Three consecutive Ducks were able to pin their opponent late in the meet, giving the hosts a 37-3 lead with only the 125-pound class left to wrestle.
Stanford returns home for the week before heading to Nevada on Fri., Dec. 1 and Sat., Dec. 2 for the Las Vegas Invitational.
