Football Awards Top Sun Devils

TEMPE, Ariz. -- With the regular season complete and a bowl game remaining on the schedule, Arizona State honored its own at the Sun Devil football awards banquet Sunday, Nov. 26.
Senior linebacker Adam Archuleta earned the Most Valuable Defensive Player Award, while juniors Todd Heap and Donnie O'Neal were co-winners in the offensive category. Archuleta and Heap were joined by senior cornerback Nijrell Eason and junior lineman Scott Peters in winning Cecil Abono Co-Captain Awards.
Freshman quarterback Jeff Krohn was honored twice, taking home the Mike Bartholomew Most Improved Offensive Player Award and earning a share of the Bill Kajikawa Sun Devil Award with Terrell Suggs, which goes to the top-freshman.
The Gail Scott Most Improved Defensive Award was presented to sophomore cornerback Josiah Igono, senior Rod Denestso won the Babe Alex Demon Award for excellence on special teams, Kyle Kosier -- a junior lineman -- was given the Tim Landers Iron Man Award for accomplishment in the weight room.
The McBurney award, presented to the top offensive scout team player, went to freshman lineman Drew Hodgon. The Glen Hawkins award, given to the top defensive scout team player, went to freshman linebacker Eric Keefner.
Although sidelined for the season due to injury, senior tailback Delvon Flowers received the Clyde B. Smith award for academic excellence.
