Eight UW Women's Soccer Players Garner Pac-10 Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Seniors Malia Arrant and Theresa Wagner along with junior Andrea Morelli from the Washington women's soccer team, were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.
Arrant, a midfielder from Milwaukie, Ore., maintains a 3.53 grade point average and is majoring in sociology and economics. She was previously recognized as an all-conference honorable mention honoree.
A psychology major from Bellevue, Wash., Morelli has a 3.40 grade point average. A two-time first-team All-Pac-10 selection, she was voted the conference's Defender of the Year in 1999.
Wagner finishes her Washington career with a 3.49 grade point average, majoring in business, and was named to the Pac-10 first team. A midfielder, Wagner owns every school assist record, including the standards for a game (4), season (12) and career (26).
Husky junior Katie Goodeve was the lone Husky to be named to the second team. Goodeve, a defender, holds a 3.51 grade point average in communications and started every game this season. Honorable mention academic honorees include sophomores Megan McKinstry and Vanessa Pierce and juniors Caroline Putz and Erin Otagaki.
The Huskies (18-2) registered their finest season ever in 2000, winning a school-record 18 games that featured a record 11-game winning streak. Washington advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever before losing to Portland 1-0.
