Kemp, Sharpstein To Attend WUSA Combine

BERKELEY - Former California women's soccer players Allie Kemp and Trudi Sharpsteen are among 170 athletes scheduled to participate in the first ever WUSA combine Dec. 4-9 at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.

League personnel, GM's and coaches from all eight teams will be on hand to evaluate and scout players ahead of the Dec. 10-11 draft, which will include from 12 to 15 rounds. Player registration and physicals will take place the first two days of the combine, which will be followed by five full days of games and workouts. Current college seniors were not invited to the combine.

Kemp, who hails from Encinitas, Calif., played in the midfield and up front for the Golden Bears from 1993-96, earning first team All-Pac-10 honors in 1996 and third team NSCAA all-region recognition in 1995.

Sharpsteen was a midfielder for Cal beginning in its inaugural 1982 season through 1985. The Palos Verdes, Calif., native was named a second team All-American in 1984, all-region in 1985 and all-conference in 1982. She helped lead the Bears to their first of three final four appearances in 1984.
