Huskies Men's Hoops Hold Off Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Will Perkins led Washington with 16 points, but theHuskies had to hang on down the stretch Thursday night to beat Wichita State69-66.

Washington (3-1) led 67-57 with 1:21 left, but Terrell Benton hit a 3-pointshot and the Shockers hit 6-of-6 free throws in the last 36 seconds to closewithin three.

Wichita State (2-1) missed on game-tying 3-point attempts by C.C. McFall andTerrell Benton in the final seven seconds.

Wichita State led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but the Huskiescut it to 36-33 at halftime.

Bryan Brown and Thalo Green scored 15 points each and Michael Johnson added14 for Washington. Brown hit 4-of-5 3-point shots.

Wichita State got a game-high 24 points from Benton. Troy Mack added 14 andDuke Tshomba had 10.
