Swimming Signs Two More Recruits
Dec. 11, 2000
CORVALLIS, Ore. - - Annie Zucker and Jessie Hong signed letters of intent to join the Oregon State swimming program for the 2000-01 season, head coach Mariusz Podkoscielny announced Monday.
Zucker, from Reno, Nev., is a sprint- and middle-distance freestyler who swims for the Reno Aquatic Club.
Hong, from Carson City, Nev., also swims for Reno Aquatics. The backstroker and individual medley swimmer is a multiple Junior National qualifier.
'(Jesse) is going to be a great addition because we're real thin in the backstroke events, so signing her really takes a lot of pressure off of us,' Podkoscielny said. 'We expect a lot of good things from both of them next year.
'This gives us six new swimmers (for next year), and this is, by far, the best and strongest early signing class we've ever had,' Podkoscielny continued. 'A lot of hard work went into it, but it also shows there's a lot more interest out there in Oregon State and there are people who are knocking on the door and are interested in coming in.'
The Beavers signed Stephanie Chambers, Kristin Huston, Grace Peterson, and Nicole Reynolds earlier this fall.
