Cokley Suspended From Basketball Team

Dec. 13, 2000

DENVER, Colo. - - Oregon State University sophomore guard Mike Cokley has been suspended indefinitely from the men's basketball program, it was announced Wednesday by Beaver head coach Ritchie McKay.

Cokley has played in all seven of Oregon State's games, starting six. The 5'8' Knappa, Ore., native is averaging 2.9 points, 1.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 21.4 minutes per game.

The loss of Cokley reduces the Beavers' active roster to seven for tonight's (Wed.) game at the University of Denver, and possibly for Saturday's game vs. the University of Wyoming at Casper.

Oregon State is expected to see the return of sophomore guard Emonte Jernigan in the near future. Jernigan, a transfer from Santa Rosa Junior College, has been sidelined with a broken toe on his right foot, but has returned to practice this week.
