Arizona Edged Out By No. 9 Auburn, 69-66

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - Lori Nero had 20 points and eight rebounds asNo. 9 Auburn beat Arizona 69-66 on Tuesday night to win the San Juan Shootout.

The Tigers improved to 13-0, their best start since they went 28-0 in the1988-89 season.

Nero was selected the most valuable player of the tournament after averaging20.3 points in three games.

'Having won three games in three straight nights shows the maturity andcharacter of this team,' Auburn coach Joe Ciampi said.

We didn't have time to prepare for Arizona, but my team plays a physicalgame, tough defense and it has great conditioning. That's what it takes to winchampionships'.

Tasha Hamilton added 17 points and seven rebounds for Auburn, and CarolSmith had 10 points. Reshea Bristol led Arizona (7-2) with 20 points, KristaWarren added 13, and Tysell Bozeman had 10 points and seven rebounds.
