CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon opens up its Pacific-10 Conference schedule as it faces intrastaterival Oregon State on Friday.
The 24th-ranked Ducks (7-3) opened the season with four wins, beforedropping three straight on a tough road swing against Texas, Texas Tech andUtah. Since then, Oregon has regained its winning ways with a new three-gamestreak, including a 67-29 rout against Boise State on Tuesday.
Senior forward Angelina Wolvert leads the Ducks in scoring at 13.9 points,while adding 5.1 rebounds. The only other Oregon player to average doublefigures in scoring is junior Jamie Craighead, at 10.2 points.
'A lot of people are stepping up and playing big roles, just not in the boxscore,' Wolvert said. 'A lot of people's abilities are really coming forwardright now.'
The Ducks lead the Pac-10 in field-goal shooting (47.8 percent), whileOregon State leads the Pac-10 in field-goal percentage defense, allowingopponents to shoot just 36.7 percent.
Oregon leads the all-time series with Oregon State 43-13. The Ducks have wonnine straight meetings, and 11 of 13.
Oregon State and Oregon faced each other in last season's Pac-10 finale withthe Ducks coming out on top 60-53 in Eugene.
The Beavers' last win in the series was 58-57 at Gill Coliseum during the1995-96 season.
Oregon State is averaging 67.8 points this season, while allowing itsopponents to score 55.3 points. The Beavers are a perfect 8-0 this season whenscoring more than 55 points.
'Our defense is getting us some transition buckets,' Oregon State headcoach Judy Spoelstra said. 'We're able to get our hands up and knock somepasses down, and make key steals.'
